The Korean Cultural Center of the Philippines will be giving away FREE tickets for the Korean Cultural Concert on September 1 at the SM Mall of Asia. 100 tickets will be distributed to the public from 5:30 onwards today at the Korean Cultural Center which is located at 2F Mancor Corporate Center, 32nd St, Bonifacio Global City. Do note that only 1 ticket will be given per person.

Among the event highlights is a staging of Miso The Musical. This is a traditional musical about two lovers, Chun-Hyang and Mong-Ryong (if you’ve watched enough Korean dramas or movies, you’d probably have heard about them.) They are a legendary couple in Korean folktales. Chun-Hyang is the head-strong daughter of a gisaeng who meets and falls in love with Mong-Ryong, the son of a magistrate. Their love compelled them to get married despite the protests of those around them. However, when Mong-Ryong leaves town for business in the city, a corrupt government official tries to force Chun-Hyang to marry him. Chun-Hyang refuses out of dutiful love for Mong-Ryong. She is sentenced to death but is saved just in time by Mong-Ryong who has come back as the new secret royal inspector.

There will also be a special performance by Block B, the Korean boyband composed of Zico (Woo Jiho), Lee Taeil, B-Bomb (Lee Minhyuk), Ahn Jaehyo, U-Kwon (Kim Yukwon), Park Kyung, and P.O (Pyo Jihoon). Block B is an abbreviation for Blockbuster, which refers to the aspiration of the group to make it big in the Korean music industry. Their sound is heavily influenced by hip-hop as expected from a group formed by the legendary hip-hop music producer Cho PD under the label Brand New Stardom.

As evidenced by this impressive line-up of performances, this cultural and tourism fair will highlight various aspects of both traditional and contemporary Korean culture. It will also be hosted by no less than Grace Lee, the Korean beauty, who has made the Philippines her second home.

Isn’t that exciting? So head on to the Korean Cultural Center today for free tickets!
